Showtime May Have Accidentally Revealed Its Twin Peaks Release Date
By Sundi Rose
Showtime may have accidentally revealed the Twin Peaks premiere, and we aren’t sorry at all.
I’ve been waiting on the Twin Peaks reboot for forever, relying on the information that it was “coming in 2017.” Showtime has been very tight-lipped about the details surrounding its release, not giving up a premiere date at all. All we know, so far, is the series will pick up 25 years later, will star Kyle Maclachlan as FBI Agent Dale Cooper, and will feature a lot of familiar faces.
Now, thanks to a simple oversight, we might know when Twin Peaks will air. Maybe. Reddit user Wikumusik (via Uproxx) saw a Showtime calendar and noticed that the show was the featured image for May. He immediately drew some conclusions, and naturally took to the internet to post them.
"He wrote on Tuesday, “My wife works for a cable company and they got the new Showtime 2017 calendars today. Twin Peaks is the feature for May (picture of the waterfall).”"
But even he admits the validity of his theory is shaky. He goes on to say, “Doesn’t even mean it will be airing in May, just probably will already be on by then. Just thought I’d share.”
The theory really is pretty anemic, but other Twin Peaks theorists are searching to find evidence to back it up. Last year, Showtime released a teaser trailer (the one without David Lynch eating a doughnut) and some intrepid fans noticed the date on the “Welcome To Twin Peaks” sign: April 30th.
These two pieces of information, coupled with the Homeland finale airing the week before seem like the makings of a solid guess. But at this point, that’s all we’re doing: wishing, hoping, and guessing.
Here’s the teaser in question. See if you can suss out any more clues.

Aside from the rumors about Twin Peaks debuting at Sundance (which have been adamantly dispelled) we know that it’s been in production for long enough that we might not have to wait much longer. You can also catch up on the first two seasons of Twin Peaks on Showtime right now.
If this April 30th theory holds true, it will be right on time to fill out our summer watch list, and I’m perfectly okay with that.
