On the outset Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett seem like an odd couple. He’s an old school singer with a career that spans decades. She’s known for her activism and provocative pop songs. Yet, with Gaga’s old soul and Bennett’s universal appeal, they have found a place to meet. The pair have recorded a number of songs together and even have an entire album full of their covers of classic hits called Cheek to Cheek.

Bennett and Gaga’s rendition of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” appears in an advertisement for Barnes and Noble. The premise is, “You Never Know Who You’ll Meet” while at the store. The two stroll around looking at books until they run into each other at the end of an aisle. The holidays always have the ability to bring people together and this commercial captures that spirit.

Everything about this song just gets you in the mood for the Christmas. The decorations in the store, Gaga’s fabulous dress, and Bennett’s casually draped red scarf all help set the stage. The intimacy the singers already share is apparent. They are both able to keep their own sound while not coming across like they are in two different songs. Both Gaga and Bennett have amazing ranges to their voices; they can seamlessly slip into any genre which make their collaborations all the more interesting.
