Our minds are made up: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was just as fantastic as its title. Twitter exploded with delight over the film’s recent release, and we saw a mix of hilarity and serious reviews in 140 characters or less. Possible spoilers ahead!
Fantastic Beasts is on track to rake in a nice chunk of change during its opening weekend. A $75 million haul to be exact. Social media, especially Twitter, lit up in anticipation of another magical world to explore (and possibly obsess over. It’s okay, we’ve all been there).
Before the debut, Twitter basically looked like this:
Waiting for the next Fantastic Beasts film like pic.twitter.com/u2WpNIBtYM

Afterwards, it was basically like this:
Yep.
I also couldn’t contain my excitement, so I tweeted out a photo of the massive movie poster adorning the Manhattan theater’s lobby.

And keeping in tune with my dorky tweeting style, all I could say afterwards was…
dudes it was great

Other Twitter users were far more articulate about their delight than I was. One user sent her deepest thanks to screenwriter J.K. Rowling during her review.
There also seems to be a never-ending stream of Twitter users who are absolutely in love with the latest addition to the Harry Potter universe.

This guy even slid a Pokemon reference into his informal review.
But we’ve got to take the bitter with the sweet. Some users just weren’t that hype.
Fantastic Beasts was pretty sloppy.

Kind of relied on audience assumptions.
Funnily enough then Beasts felt kind of shoehorned in.
The 3D glasses at our theater were dark as sunglasses, ruined our Fantastic Beasts experience. :(

One user even threw in some concerns with a social justice-y twist added.
Tempted by Fantastic Beasts but also don't want to give money to people portraying an all-white Harlem in the 1920s, do you see my problem

We see. But it was still a wild ride from start to finish.
And, with the prospect of four more movies on the way, some are clearly having trouble keeping a lid on their anticipation.
apparently there's going to be five installments of fantastic beasts I AM SCREAMING

#FantasticBeasts is a brilliant movie. I only wish I didn't have to wait two years for part two... of five.
