Nominees for the 2016 Critics’ Choice Award for Television Announced

The nominees for the 2016 Critics’ Choice Award for Television have been announced, and we have all the full list for you. Who didn’t make the list might surprise you.

You know award season is upon us when the nominees for the 2016 Critics’ Choice Award for Television are announced. No surprise with HBO leading all other networks with a whopping 22 nominations total considering they only got 15 last year. ABC and Netflix come in at second and third place, taking 14 nominations apiece. FX came in fourth with 12 nominations but till down from last years 15. FX should be thanking the success of The People Vs. OJ Simpson (6) and Atlanta (2) for its nominations this year.

The Starz hit show Outlander finally scores its first Critics’ Choice Award for Television nominations in the drama category for lead actor Sam Heughan and lead actress Caitriona Balfe. The biggest surprise is the multiple nominations for new Netflix show The Crown and Amazon Studios show Fleabag.

Nominees were announced by hosts Andrea Boehlke and Jessica Shaw as part of a new partnership between A&E Network and Entertainment Weekly. This move by Broadcast Television Journalists Association to allow People and Entertainment Weekly rights to the nominations have been met with controversy. About 15 percent of journalists resigned their association with the organization in protest of the preferential treatment. The move directly affected the nominations due to a smaller pool of members.

The 22nd annual Critics’ Choice Awards airs on A&E live on December 11 at 8 PM ET, 5 PM PT. Comedian and Critics’ Choice Awards nominee TJ Miller will host the show.
