Poldark: What’s up with Ross and Elizabeth? and More Questions for Episode 3
We have 3 questions following episode 2 of Poldark, and we hope we’ll get some answers in episode 3 and beyond.
Warning: this post contains spoilers for the October 2 episode of Poldark. Did you miss the episode? Check out our recap.
After the massive two-hour premiere of Poldark last week threw plenty of storylines at us, this week’s episode seemed a bit less bonkers. However, “less bonkers” does not mean that we don’t still have questions for the next episode. More accurately, we have 3 questions.
Here they are, presented in no particular order:

What’s going on between Ross and Elizabeth?
Alternatively, “Ross, what are you even doing?” Last episode, at the harvest celebration, we saw a pretty inebriated Ross doing some serious flirting with Elizabeth, his first love now married to his cousin. Demelza gave him a subtle heads-up that she had heard some of that flirting, but his attempt at an explanation turned out to be a pretty terrible non-apology.
In short, we know that Ross still has some feelings for Elizabeth buried deep down. The question is: will he act on them sober, or will we continue to only see them when he has a bit of drink in him?
Elizabeth, at least, did not seem too terribly interested in Ross. Someone still has common sense, it seems.
An addendum to this question boils down to “how well will Demelza take any more of this nonsense?” We think the answer is probably “not well at all”.
Will Ross confront Jud about the money?
While Prudie continued wailing about Jud’s apparent death, Ross mentioned that whoever hurt him left the money in his pocket. We all know where that money came from: George Warleggan’s new henchman, Tankard, bribing Jud for the trial. Since he went back on the deal, Tankard went and delivered a beating. That makes it pretty obvious that this wasn’t so much a random robbery as a targeted assault. Considering Ross’ general perception abilities have failed him often as of late, he might let this all go.
Hope, however, springs eternal.

Will Warleggan have something to say about Francis’ new hole in the ground?
Now that he has a new lease on life, Francis has grand plans to get back into the family mining business with some money George Warleggan gave him to cover gambling losses incurred while playing against Warleggan’s cheating cousin.
However, a hole in the ground and news of the prospecting will likely reach Warleggan’s ears sooner rather than later. We trust he has the ability to try and ruin two Poldarks at once, since he already has Tankard on the board of Ross’ Wheal Leisure.
Besides, the insults Francis hurled his way during the trial likely won’t be soon forgotten. No wonder Warleggan’s brushing up on boxing: he might try and deliver the knockout punch to Francis once and for all.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait an additional week for any answers. Because of the presidential debate next Sunday, Poldark episode 3 won’t air until October 16.
