Force Friday: Best Star Wars-Themed Clothing Available on Etsy

In honor of Force Friday, we’ve scoured the internet for some awesome Rogue One-inspired wearables. Open your wallets and check ’em out!
Disclaimer: My fashion sense is a mixture of ‘Ooh, this looks comfy’ and ‘who on earth would anyone wear that?’ However, I really love Star Wars and I’m currently wearing R2-D2 socks, a Rogue One t-shirt, and there’s a mug on my desk that says “World’s Greatest Dad’ shaped like Darth Vader. So, I’m perfectly alright with appearing less than sane for the sake of Star Wars.
In honor of Force Friday, we’re taking a look at some of the best Rogue One-inspired stuff on the market. Of course, there are a ton of retailers offering their own exclusive apparel. But today is the day for fans and the best way to celebrate is by supporting other fans, right?
So, here are few selections to help you get started. They’re all cute and show off your inner geek. More importantly, they’re all available to buy right now via the internet. Which is best way to shop — all the style, minus the hassle.
Ooh, someone make a shirt of that for me, please.
#1 — The “Dress to Impress,” a Mon Mothma style garment:

Description: “Mon Mothma handmade costume. One size”
This particular item has 5 stars out of 17 reviews. To be fair, it’s been created by a costume designer. Not someone who worked on Rogue One, I’m sure, but the level of detail is still impressive. My only concern is that the size of the model is not listed. So, “one size” could be tailored to a giant tree over 5’7″.
Apparently, Genevieve O’Reilly (the actress to play Mon Mothma in Rogue One) isn’t that tall, but I feel like this curtain needs to be draped from pretty high.
#2 — The “I rebel with a plunging neckline” tee:

Okay, “plunging” is an exaggeration. It’s a simple v-neck, but how often do you get to say “plunging neckline” in conversation?
Chosen for its simplicity, I appreciate the double entendre here. Like, it’s sassy whether you know it’s a Star Wars reference or not. Perhaps, that’s why they made the first phrase so small. You can’t go wrong with an understated tee that still says so much. Also, the seller says this is very comfortable and it looks like it.
#3 — The “limp lightsaber” scarf:

Look, the only people who are allowed to comment are “moi” and anyone who can crochet. Because I don’t have any sort of innate sewing knowledge, I worry about the durability of this scarf. It’s definitely cute, but it also looks easy to stretch and the seller made it clear it’s meant as a stylish accessory. It wouldn’t do Jake Gyllenhaal any good in The Day After Tomorrow.
Honestly, am I the only one who sees the innuendo here? Further, am I the only one trying to figure out the physics behind contorting plasma? Help me, science people, you’re my only hope.
#4 — The “Claire Danes in Homeland” hooded scarf:

This one’s my favorite.
This seller created a beautiful headwrap to order and wants you to pay $80 for it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful and very close to what we’ll see Felicity Jones wearing in Rogue One, but am I to assume that we are primarily paying for the cost of labor?
Let’s look at the back:

The only labor I see here is the seam down on the back of the hood. To the seller’s credit, it’s probably what gives the hood its shape. And the shape is what makes it look so authentic. Yet, that’s a really steep price tag. Even for Star Wars.
#5 — The “Black is the only color that matters in the universe” tee:

Reasonably priced? Check. Excellent color selection? Check. Extra tax for Florida residents? Check.
What really catches my eyes for this one is the description. It’s exclusive because it’s obviously the artist’s rendering from the first Rogue One trailer. However, the seller mentioned how fortunate we are to live in a world where Jyn Erso is the face of the next Star Wars movie. Yes, she’s a rebel, but she’s also a capable female in a franchise that lacks capable females. Jyn Erso is the frosting on a Rey-shaped cake and this t-shirt celebrates that. Just like Jyn Erso, it’s not flashy but it’s saying a lot and getting the job done.
