Several Harry Potter alumni including Evanna Lynch, Warwick Davis, and Jason Isaacs attended the Lumos gala performance of Cursed Child.

This Sunday, a special performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child hit the stage for the Lumos charity event. While the presence of J.K. Rowling and the play’s cast were expected, we got to see a few familiar faces from other Harry Potter media as well. Also in attendance were some of the lovely stars of the Warner Bros. films, showing their support for the Potter-inspired charity.

The proceeds from the performance all went to the “Families Not Orphanages Fund” as part of the #WeAreLumos worldwide campaign. Attendees took a stand against the practice of funding institutions and orphanages. Acting as ambassadors, Jason Isaacs, Evanna Lynch, and Warwick Davis all sported their Lumos t-shirts in support of the cause.

Evanna Lynch:

Evanna Lynch tweeted about her enjoyment of the play, and her intention to #KeepTheSecrets. She describes her reaction to the play as being “so satisfied.” As a well-known Potterhead, it’s encouraging for fans to see her support. For those who have been avoiding spoilers, it’s at least nice to know that someone who cares about the series as much as them has given her stamp of approval:

In preparation for the event, Lynch spent the morning with the Lumos team. Truly, they embody the phrase on their t-shirts: “We do not need magic to transform the world; we carry all the power inside ourselves already.”

Warwick Davis:

Of course, Lynch wasn’t the only Harry Potter star to show their support loud and proud. Yet another Ravenclaw alumni, Warwick Davis, showed up in style.

Not only that, but Davis revealed a tidbit about Coldplay front man Chris Martin’s performance. Seems like Martin certainly knows his audience.

Could the song be inspired by the plight of Albus Severus in Cursed Child? He certainly has difficulty reconciling his Gryffindor heritage with his Slytherin mind. Davis suggested that the song be released as a charity single for Lumos, and we can’t help but agree! It’s easy to understand why Davis would be cast as the head of Ravenclaw house, as he’s got a ready mind full of great ideas.

Jason Isaacs:

While some actors seem to embody their characters in real life, Jason Isaacs has all the kindness his character Lucius Malfoy did not. He joined Lynch and Davis at the gala to promote the cause. Though he’s certainly not short of time commitments with all the film work he’s doing lately, Isaacs reminds us all to make time for what’s important:

Another reason that Harry Potter will remain in our hearts forever is how it brings out the best in people. We certainly saw that with Lumos.
