Recasting ‘Suicide Squad’ With An All-Lady Villain Squad

facebooktwitterreddit

‘Suicide Squad’ was made up of mostly male villains minus Harley Quinn, Katana, and Enchantress. What if the team had been made up of badass ladies instead?

Even with all of the negative reviews, Suicide Squad was one of the most popular movies of the summer. Could the movie have done better if it was made up of all female villains? Here at Culturess, we are here to answer this question or at least hypothetically make a new team full of lady villains.

Before I start naming villains, this will just be a group of female villains. I won’t be trying to match up their powers or looking for their female counterparts. I’ll be picking solely based on who I think would make an impact and add something to the team.I won’t be replacing characters like Batman, The Joker, Amanda Waller or Rick Flag since they aren’t technically part of the Suicide Squad.

I will be keeping Harley Quinn, Katana and Enchantress on the team since they’re all already badasses! If you’re keeping track, then I’ll be replacing Deadshot, El Diablo, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang and Slipknot. Oh poor poor Slipknot, we hardly knew you!

#1: Catwoman

Catwoman-DC Comics

This list wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include some infamous DC ladies. The first being Catwoman, because she’s the perfect mixture of good and evil. Catwoman was a part of the Gotham City Sirens, making her relationship with Harley Quinn a valuable asset and with another lady on this list. She separates herself from most of the others on this list because she doesn’t have a desire to kill and she has a close relationship with Batman which could bode nicely for the team.

#2: Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy-DC Comics

The last half of the Gotham City Sirens had to make my list. Poison Ivy also benefits from her close relationship with Harley Quinn. Quinn and Ivy are essentially partners-in-crime which makes her a solid choice. Unlike Quinn or Catwoman, Ivy is considered to have superpowers due to her control over plants and ability to create toxic substances. Ivy’s most common nemesis is Batman who she usually is able to seduce if you want to consider that one of her superpowers as well. She also has the power of mind control which could help defeat villains before they even know it. There’s a lot Ivy can bring to the team.

#3: Big Barda

Big Barda-DC Comics

Big Barda is one of the less well-known characters which makes her a great choice for the Suicide Squad. She was trained as a warrior at a very young age, quickly allowing her to beat most of her opponents. Her sheer size alone is what makes her such a commanding presence because she towers over almost everyone she fights against including Wonder Woman. She’s resistant to most human or superhero ailments and is as strong as Superman. She also carries around a “Mega-Rod” which is pictured above. The “Mega-Rod” according to DC “fires powerful concussive bolts, increases gravitational forces and allows Barda to instantaneously teleport herself and others great distances.” Basically, she’s a huge asset to the Suicide Squad.

#4: Killer Frost

Killer Frost-DC Comics

Killer Frost is much like Poison Ivy with her powers but instead of plans, she uses ice. She gained the power of being able to absorb human beings heat and being able to conjure up ice and coldness. What really makes her a great choice for the Suicide Squad is her demeanor and lack of remorse for her actions. Frost doesn’t mind killing people and actually takes pleasure from the experience. In addition to her powers mentioned above, she can create an ice shield around herself to protect from attacks, create objects out of ice and instantly freeze objects by touching them.

#5: Circe

Circe-DC Comics

The last lady to make the list is Circe, the archenemy of Wonder Woman. The main reason why I chose Circe was because I wanted to add a touch of magic because while some of the ladies have power and the others don’t, none have magic. As an all-powerful sorceress, Circe is immortal which makes her a great addition to the team. She can revive the dead, teleport and can match herself to the exact strengths of Wonder Woman. She has a mirror that allows her to possess the features of anyone else in the world but one of her greatest weapons is her ability to control men, making them almost powerless against her. There’s a lot Circe can bring to the squad but her magic is easily the most important.
