More from Harry Potter

While we’ve been obsessing over Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, back in the world of actors from the original Potter series, careers are moving along at a clip. Let’s start with Daniel Radcliffe. His latest, Swiss Army Man has taken in over $4 million in the U.S. box office since its release on June 24th. Now, the film, in which he costars with Paul Dano, will be released in the UK on September 30th by PictureHouse Entertainment and A24.

The odd, but funny film marks the debut of music video directors Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who at Sundance 2016, were honored with the Best Director Award. According to Deadline, the the upcoming release in the UK marks the film’s first foray into overseas territory. How it does will probably determine if it continues opening elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Radcliffe’s next project, Imperium has landed a release date in the UK as well. The film, which opens here in the US on August 19th (mark your calendars, as that means Radcliffe will start making the interview rounds again), will open in the UK on September 23rd

In other Potter star news, last week, Tom Felton visited San Diego Comic-Con, to talk about joining CW’s show The Flash as Central City Police Department crime scene investigator, Julian Dorn.

"“It’s always very nerve-racking when you’re joining such a well-oiled machine,” Felton told ET’s Leanne Aguilera during a Comic-Con Facebook Live session on Saturday. “But I’ve only been around them for less than a few days, and I already feel like part of the family.”"

When asked what we can expect from Felton as Julian Dorn, he simply responded:

"“Any character I play you should see as a threat,” Felton said with a smile. “I honestly don’t know. I tried to get both of these writers tipsy last night, to pry some information out of them.”"

Tapping into your Malfoy-ish side a bit there Felton? While we’re on of Malfoy, Felton also showed some love to Potter, the franchise that started his career.

"“I was last here at Comic-Con representing a franchise symbolized by a lightning bolt and now here I am.”"

The Flash will be going into its third season this coming fall.

Across the pond from the US, Evanna Lynch was in Italy last week for the annual Giffoni Film Festival to promote her new film My Name is Emily. Ever willing to discuss all things Potter, Lynch touched on the topics of Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, as well if she’ll reprise her role Luna Lovegood if the eighth story was ever brought to the big screen.

"“Hermione is a libertarian in spirit, she fights for those in difficulty, it makes total sense to imagine her as part of a minority. One of the most beautiful things about J.K Rowling, which for me is a point of reference, is the way in which she uses her characters to send a message”"

When it comes to possible playing Luna Lovegood again, It doesn’t seem like Lynch wants to give up her role.

"“I am not ready to abandon the character entirely and I think I would be jealous if it were assigned to someone else.”"

This seems like a question going around the Potter cast since the announcement of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Radcliffe was asked, as well as James and Oliver, the Phelps twins. Radcliffe said he would return under the right circumstances. As for the Phelps twins, it sound like they are in! But seeing as there would be only George (rest in peace Fred) to play maybe perhaps the twins could pull a Full House-ish set up and trade off? Hey, it worked for MaryKate and Ashley!

Harry Potter costar Alfred Enoch who played Dean Thomas in the series, also commented on racial diversity on stage in general, and referenced Cursed Child. Enoch was speaking in an interview promoting his current project, ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder.

"‘My thought is, is that we need to get a wider array of roles for black and minority actors, so they’re represented across the board and not just pockets of story telling,’ the actor said. ‘We need BAME (black and minority ethnic) actors in non-racially specific roles that normally go to white actors. We need to get to where in a piece of storytelling race doesn’t matter.”"

He has done a couple Shakespeare plays, he tells The Metro over the phone, as the role as Edgar in King Lear. in the play, Edgar is the rich and clueless son of Gloucester, one of the kingdom’s most powerful men. But Enoch wonders when we will get a black James Bond or a black doctor in Doctor Who. Come on Hollywood, keep up!
