In all the news for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, one mustn’t forget that the other major Potterverse property, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is just over 100 days from release. And along with this brand new look at the wizarding world, now set in American society of the 1920s will come the most important part o the film: merchandising!

Yes, with the Christmas season shopping period only a month out, that means that the toys, games and above all, book tie-ins to the Rowling world are being announced this month in preparation for them to go on sale, some as early as this September. Now, we all know that the movie doesn’t actually come out until November, but with the timing being such that if the online stores waited until the movie was released to start selling Fantastic Beasts tie ins, there’s be barely five weeks of shopping days in which to make money, you can understand why they’re starting their sales about six weeks before the movie hits theaters. (Star Wars did the same thing last year and for a longer period, as The Force Awakens came out only a week before Christmas.)

Book tie ins are the most important facet of these new Rowling movies, as “movies that get your children to read” is a key part of the Potter brand. But unlike Harry Potter, there are no official novels to sell based off the movie. Harper Collins has stepped into the void, bringing forth no less than six book tie ins for the movie, all of which can be pre-ordered now.

Cashing in on the coloring book craze, we start with a Magical Characters and Places Coloring Book. This is out September 1st.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Magical Characters and Places Coloring Book From the bustling city streets and buildings of a vibrant 1926 New York, to Tina and Queenie’s apartment and the wonders of MACUSA, this book invites you to color your way through the adventure – even from inside Newt’s case! Along with those we have four more without official covers yet. The first two are based on the making of Fantastic Beasts and will be released on November 18th along with the film’s debut.
