He Who Must Not Be Named

and his first victim! Despite being announced

only a week ago

, it looks like

The Today Show

‘s Harry Potter costume contest had great turnout.

Billy DiMichele, VP of Creative Development at Scholastic and the USA Board Chair of Lumos, was a guest judge on the show. Check out the video!

Scholastic posted a number of photos on Twitter so that fans can admire fellow cosplayers’ work and get ideas for midnight release parties for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child this weekend. We’ll start with winner Moaning Myrtle.

If you didn’t know it before, yes, there is a toilet emoji. Perfect for situations like this. Potterhead Anna can now tell her mother Ha! I told you so! because the toilet seat was a dumpster rescue that was on her mom’s list to throw out during a recent move. It’s like an episode of Antiques Roadshow where something from the trash turns into a treasure worth a couple thousand bucks. A simple, but creative Moaning Myrtle.

Moaning Myrtle is just as excited as you would imagine her to be about the prize trip to Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The second winner was a wise choice. That no-nose costume is good enough to make your skin crawl. Lord Voldemort, a.k.a. Taylor, got some help from his boyfriend to get into the proper face-altering makeup starting at 1 a.m. the morning of the contest. A daring, probably coffee-fueled choice that really paid off.

He Who Must Not Be Named is way more excited and enthusiastic and cheery about his win than the movie character.

And a nice shot of the two winners with DiMichele and The Today Show hosts.

Taylor’s boyfriend also had quite the costume. His Harry Potter Quidditch outfit was accentuated by a live golden snitch.

No costume contest is complete with a cute little Harry.

No owl were harmed in the making of this costumed trio. This Hedwig probably did not avoid returning to her parents by flying over the audience in the Plaza.

We’ll end with a shot of dastardly deeds afoot at The Today Show as they hammed it up.
