Yesterday was a rather remarkable one over in London. If you thought politics in 2016 was weird in the US, the UK not only topped it, but did so old school style. As many may have heard, the country is divided right now over a referendum over those who wish to remain in the European Union and those who support leaving, or in the tabloid’s nickname “the Brexit.” But where most of these civil disagreements usually stay in the intellectual realm, this one did not.
Yesterday afternoon, a flotilla of Pro-Brexitors sailed down the Thames towards Parliament, as a show against Prime Minister Cameron and his “Remain” coalition. Partway there they were intercepted, and boarded by a second flotilla of those on the Remain team, most of whom were celebrity types, like Bob Geldorf.
Though J.K. Rowling was not one of those celebrities that took part in the first Naval skirmish on the Thames since the Middle Ages, she made sure to add her voice as loudly as she could on Twitter, going wall-to-wall with pro-Remain tweets.
Many of her tweets were retweets of the official “Stronger In” account, including one that touted the Mayor of London being on the “Remain” side.
She also called out the hypocrisy of those trying to exit, as not caring about the economic collapse that would occur.
But much of it was her tweeting factual information. There seems to be the idea that those who argue to leave are just not up to date on the facts.
And that info dump has continued this morning.
The referendum on whether the UK should stay or go is set for next week, and as the date nears, we should expect that Rowling’s political tweets will be ramping up even further, the way they did as the Scottish referendum voting date neared last year.

Rowling also supported staying in that case as well. Let’s hope that voters agree with her once again.
