The finalized cover design for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child script has been unveiled! Check out all the details!

More from Harry Potter

With first previews for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child now under a month away, that also means that we are within 90 days of the publishing of the script for the stage show at the end of July. So far, when it comes to the printing of the script as a book, sales have been through the roof. It is currently one of the top three books of Amazon’s “Best Sellers of 2016 So Far.” (And even though it’s only May, chances of it not being one of the Top Three books of the year is pretty slim, unless, say, Beyoncé suddenly decides to do a foray into the printed page.)

Though there has been massive excitement for the book, we haven’t had a lot of details other than “it will be the rehearsal script.” We haven’t even seen an official finalized cover, until now.

Yesterday, Barnes and Noble tweeted out the finalized cover image to all fans who might not have pre-ordered yet.

Some of the major changes. (We should also note that most of these changes have also happened to the theatrical posters as well over at the Cursed Child website to match.)

  • They’re now calling it a “Special Rehearsal Script Edition” which makes me wonder if there have already been script changes since this version (which is the very first one the actors got at the table read) has already had significant changes.
  • The title is also now at the top and the “Harry Potter” part is more prominent. Perhaps the lack of excitement over Fantastic Beasts script printing has made everyone aware that those are the most valuable words.
  • They’ve chucked the roman numerals.
  • No more “Eighth Story, Nineteen Years Later,” which I continue to bet is only when the story starts, and that quite a bit of it will be far more than only “19 years later.”
  • By moving the title up, they’ve now made J.K. ROWLING very prominent, but they’ve also given themselves room to be more honest. The old version had Rowling, the actual script writer Jack Thorne and director Jack Tiffany clustered at the bottom, with no differentiation that Rowling and Tiffany weren’t actually writers. Rowling’s name may be far more front and center, but now there’s a new line: “A New Play by Jack Thorne”, so that he is being properly credited for the book. (Most likely, the bookshops will still file it under “Author: R” with the rest of the Potter series though.)

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘s script will be released as a book at 12 midnight, July 31st, 2016. Reserve your copy soon!
