Evanna Lynch is having a very good 2016. So far she’s guest starred at two major Harry Potter events: the Celebration of Harry Potter this past January, and then last week’s grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood. In between, she’s been hailed for her starring turn in the indie film My Name Is Emily, which garnered her first Best Actress nomination at the Irish Film Awards, held this past weekend.
In interviews, Lynch says she picked My Name Is Emily because it was such an uplifting film. Many actresses her age and with her level of name recognition are being offered lead roles in more apocalyptic type films that Hollywood is favoring in the wake of the popularity of The Hunger Games. But Lynch isn’t interested in doing those sorts of gritty “life is horrible and then you might be lucky enough to live until your are 50” type films. According to MSN, when asked she said they just weren’t where he head was at.
“There are other scripts that come along and I see them but I don’t really have the passion unless I connect with the character. I am sick of zombie movies, all these things about undead people. I want things that make the world lighter rather than scarier. Everyone says it’s so good but I hate zombies and that kind of violence.”

As for a return to the Potterverse, Lynch is already on record for being up to returning to the part of Luna Lovegood if the timing worked out. “(Rowling) has created another world and made it so rich and varied and interesting and I feel like it will never end. I’d love if she did a sequel, I would love to know more about Luna and I feel like there is a lot more to explore.”
“I would love a wildlife show with Luna and a documentary series.”
Perhaps she will follow in the footsteps of Newt Scamander? One never knows But Lynch is certain of one thing–though the movies hinted at a Luna-Neville romance at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, she knows that would never work, an that Rowling is correct to pair him up with Hannah Abbott instead. Speaking to Movie Pilot, she said “Definitely not.”
“I think he’s very much a homebody, a stay-at-home dad. And Luna wants to go out and explore the world and different creatures, and I think she wants to have several different relationships and not be committed forever. Neville would want a good sturdy wife who cooks, and that’s not her.”
Sorry Neville-Luna shippers. But we all know that was not to be. Luna married Rolf Scamander after all.
