It’s officially the first day of fall and what better way to start than a dark romance? Queenie & the Krakens by Aleera Anaya Ceres is the perfect book to transition into fall with.

When it comes to the fall season, it can be tough to decide what to read if you’re a romance reader. You don’t want something too light-hearted, but you also don’t want to read something so dark that it’s a horror.

For me, fall is the perfect time to maybe try something out of my comfort zone or try to get caught up on some series I’ve started and haven’t finished. There’s where Queenie & the Krakens come in because this is a why-choose romance featuring a motorcycle club which is something I rarely read.

However, Queenie & the Krakens surprised me so it had to make the cut for this month’s #TBRTrending.

Queenie & the Krakens by Aleera Anaya Ceres is a great fall read.

As previously mentioned, this is a dark romance and it features a lot of subject matter some readers might find uncomfortable. There is murder, a lot of violence, and a lot of sex scenes including BDSM and multiple partners together among many other things. Plus it’s a motorcycle club so you basically know what to expect there.

However, what made me love this book was not only the great steamy scenes but the plot of the story. We end up following Naomi Queen aka Queenie who witnesses a murder and ends up getting protected by the Kraken MC. While the steam does make up a large part of their interactions, you end up finding out more about each of the club members and how they run their motorcycle club.

Additionally, this story has a pretty solid twist towards the end of the book and it made for such a satisfying wrap-up to the plot. There’s lots of drama, fighting, and men willing to die just for their Queenie. If you’re looking for something fast-paced you won’t want to put down, then this is a solid pick.

While most motorcycle club books end up becoming a series, this is a standalone book and I think it’s better for that. All of the plotlines wrap up in the end along with our characters getting a happy ending. Well as happy as it can be for a motorcycle club. Either way, this is a fun read that’s perfect if you’re looking for something a bit darker to kick off your fall reading.
