The CW Network has officially decided to cancel 4400. The mystery drama was a reboot of the original The 4400, following the same storyline of 4400 people vanishing from their timeline and appearing in the future. Although their job is to save the world, sadly, viewers will never see the new 4400 members strive to make the world better.

The reboot had just started to pick up. It had just revealed Manny’s significance to the overall story and concluded “Present Is Prologue” with a massive cliffhanger regarding Manny’s memory wipe and Andre’s involvement with future scientists.

However, these questions will always be hanging in the air with the series canceled. Granted, it could be argued that the show had moved relatively slowly during its first season. However, between being forced to make the most of one location and the drawn-out mystery regarding what happened to Manny, the series did not devote much time to moving the plot along quicker.

It took a long time for the returnees to be allowed out of the hotel, and for the most part, the series had not followed them striving to find a place in the new world. While there had been references to the technological advances and the harsh reality that not everything in the future has progressed as much as it should have, the returnees were primarily stuck in one spot.

As for the 4400’s issues with those against their return will remain unanswered if the public will embrace the returnees or continue to fight against them. The 4400 showed some people’s opinions changing about the returnees over time while others remained against them.

But, if the series had to end early, fans at least know that the season’s conclusion answered some storylines. “Present Is Prologue” had explained what the 4400 were meant to do and why before the series ended.
