9. Leighton Murray

The future is bright for Leighton Murray as The Sex Lives of College Girls heads into its second season in 2022, especially after a stellar first season.

Sex Lives premiered earlier this year on HBOMax to commercial and critical success. So much so that the series was one of the top comedies of the year for the platform, and was quickly renewed for a second season. The show has also become a fan-favorite queer TV show, beloved among those in the community.

Leighton’s storyline in the first season revolved around her own internalized homophobia, as well as the outward pressures from her conservative family. The scene in the finale between Leighton and Kimberly, where Leighton expresses how badly she wishes she weren’t gay, was strikingly real and heartbreakingly performed by Renee Rapp.
