The Matrix Resurrections: A revolution unfolding?

There is a very quick shot in the trailer that opened my eyes to the possibility of this story angle. SWAT officers are firing at someone unknown seemingly in a computer room. However, hanging from the wall you can see a screen (or possibly curtains) projecting a very curious image or video.

There’s a shot of Neo after he’s taken the red pill and the mirror surface on his fingers has spread all the way up to his neck from the original film. Yes. They’ve included footage from the original film in this movie. So something is definitely going on.

It could be that a fan of Neo’s story had stumbled upon the footage of him leaving the Matrix for the first time. Another aspiring Neo wants to know what the freedom of life is like. It could also possibly be a hideout for the members of Zion who believe in the story of Morpheus and Neo.

The thought that intrigues me most is that this film could be about the complete defeat of the Machines if they successfully red pill the entire citizen race of blue pills (those living within the Matrix). This would break the peace treaty between humans and machines but it would also bring about the end of Machines’ rule.

Think about it – if all of the machines’ “batteries” are taken out of them, how powerful would they be? Would they even be functioning at that point? If the latter is true then it would be the end of machine’s rule and all humans would finally be free again. That could be a really fun concept to explore. Especially given that the trilogy ends on a somewhat sour note, given that the Matrix still exists. Which means humans are still trapped in there, they’re just not attacking the free ones anymore.

To end the machines would be a logical next step in a true revolution.
