After a long hiatus, Riverdale is back with the second half of its fifth season and just as wacky as ever.

Last week’s episode gave us an intimate look at Archie, Betty, and Jughead via Cheryl’s weird art scheme. Archie continued to confront his PTSD, which came to a head as he mined palladium for Cheryl and experienced flashbacks.

Meanwhile, Betty tortured the killer she captured for answers regarding Polly but remained unsatisfied while Jughead shared his tale in an AA meeting. Let’s look at what’s in store for this week’s episode.

Per IMDB, the synopsis for this week’s episode, “Chapter Ninety-One: The Return of the Pussycats” reads:

"After going MIA during the middle of her world tour, Josie McCoy returns to Riverdale unexpectedly. Veronica gets creative after a surprise visit from her old friend Alexandra Cabot. Toni steps in to help Tabitha and Veronica land a deal."

After leaving Riverdale to star in the dearly departed Katy Keene, Josie McCoy is returning at long last! Additionally, we’ll be checking back in with Veronica, who was absent from last week’s episode. It also looks like another big return is on board for this week’s episode…Serpent Queen Toni Topaz!

The official preview for this week’s episode gives us a better look at Josie’s return:

While the preview doesn’t show Toni, it does hint at a deeper reason for Josie’s return. It also immediately warms the heart to see old buddies Archie and Josie reuniting. If Josie’s is bringing back musical performances to the Whyte Worm, we won’t complain, either.
