Underrated queer show: Teenage Bounty Hunters

Platform: Netflix

Cast: Maddie Phillips, Anjelica Bette Fellini, Kadeem Hardison, Virginia Williams, Mackenzie Astin

Premise: The name says it all, but yet also feels like an oversimplification. Teenage Bounty Hunters follows the adventures of fraternal twins Sterling (Phillips) and Blair (Fellini), who fall into the bounty hunting business after wrecking their father’s pickup truck in an inadvertent chase. Hardison plays Bowser Simmons, a grizzled bounty hunter who takes the girls under his wing. Williams and Astin plays the girls’ conservative, yet doting, parents.

The chemistry between onscreen sisters Blair and Sterling is off the charts, as the audience readily believes that Phillips and Fellini are related. While Sterling is the more straight-laced sister, she even becomes fellowship leader at their Christian high school, Blair is a little bit more on the rebellious side. However, Sterling finds herself questioning her sexuality after a heated argument with former best friend April (Devon Hales) turns her on.

Cancelling this show after one season is one of the biggest travesties ever committed by Netflix. This is another series who’s plug was pulled after barely being out for two months. Despite the fact that the show has garnered a loyal and vocal fanbase, there are currently no plans for second season to resolve that HUGE cliffhanger dropped in the final moments of the series.
