Xbox Live Gold has been through the ringer since we last touched on the monthly offerings. Not only did Xbox change the price on how much a yearly subscription would cost (they literally doubled it), they took it back within 24 hours due to the outrage from…well, everyone.

Because Xbox Live Gold isn’t Microsoft’s best offering for games. That would definitely be the Game Pass, and if they doubled the price of a yearly subscription, how many people would either drop it entirely or migrate over to Game Pass?

Regardless, Xbox rescinded their change and have even offered an additional game this month!

Below are the offerings for February  and the dates they’re available to download:

  • Gears 5, February 1-28
  • Resident Evil Remake, February 1-28
  • Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, February 16 – March 15
  • Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb, February 1-15
  • Lost Planet 2, February 16-28

Honestly, these are solid offerings, which is a good change of pace. Let’s jump right in.

Gears 5 has been on Game Pass since its launch in 2019 and is the extra game being offered this month. This is great because it has some excellent DLC that just came out. The campaign is hefty and will keep you entertained for a while, the combat still so good and engaging. But it’s the multiplayer that really shines, plus a co-op versus bots mode you can do as well.

The Resident Evil remake being offered isn’t very much of a surprise, what with the demo for Resident Evil: Village released a few days ago. If you’re looking for an intense game with plenty of jump scares or if you never managed to play the remake of Capcom’s game, take February to rectify that.

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition is a solid Metroidvania-type game with gorgeous pixel artwork. Honestly one of the coolest things about this game is the defiance of gravity. If you stop jumping mid-jump, you just… stop. It’s very cool and a little trippy at first, but definitely a fun twist to the genre.

Much like the Resident Evil offering, I’m not surprised to see Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb as a free game this month, what with Bethesda announcing a new Indiana Jones game in the works and all. Emperor’s Tomb is from 2003 and aside from really horrendous camera angles and controls, the game still holds up.

Lastly is Lost Planet 2, a third-person shooter and the sequel to Extreme Condition. It’s definitely a middling outing, not doing much to really separate it from its predecessor. The best part is the online multiplayer.

Next. 10 video games we can’t wait to play in 2021. dark

Of course, don’t forget you can still download one of January’s offerings (Dead Rising) through February 15!
