Superman and Lois

The CW’s Arrowverse took a hiatus during the second half of 2020, but it’s returning in full this upcoming year, starting with season two of Batwoman and following with the series premiere of Superman and Lois. The latter, which arrives in February, will see Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane navigating their own superhero series. And although DC fans have seen numerous renditions of Superman’s story, this one is taking a different approach to his mythos. For one, how many live-action Superman narratives have shown him juggling superhuman responsibilities with being a father?

And the fresh focus — along with the fact that Lois is poised to be just as important as Clark in The CW’s telling — is exactly why we’re pumped for yet another Superman story. With so many Arrowverse series coming to an end, this show could very well set itself up as the network’s next big DC hit.

Walker

It’s only been a couple of months since we bid farewell to The CW’s Supernatural, but Jared Padalecki already has a new series premiering this January — and it looks to be quite a change of pace from his days of saving people and hunting things. A reimagining of Walker: Texas Ranger, Walker will tell the story of Padalecki’s character, Cordell, as he returns to Austin to reconnect with his family. Unfortunately, he hasn’t quite gotten over the death of his wife — and the trip only makes him more suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her end.

From the trailer, it’s clear his obsession with that event will create friction within his family and at his job. How things will ultimately play out is a question best answered by tuning in when the show premieres on January 21. Until then, we’ll be enjoying the footage of Padalecki lassoing criminals with full ranger gear on. (Yes, there’s even a cowboy hat, and yes, it’s glorious.)
