In Olivia Dade‘s Spoiler Alert, Marcus Caster-Rupp and April Whittier live double lives, one in the real world and one in fandom which is fine… kind of.

As a lead actor on Gods of the Gates, the most popular show on television, Marcus’ fandom life could get him fired considering his online persona spends time writing fix-it fic and venting frustrations out about the show. A definite breach of contract.

As an environmental geologist, April doesn’t have the same problem, but after spending most of her career working hard to keep her two lives separate, she’s decided enough is enough. She posts a pic of herself in cosplay in an effort to start bridging the gap. The pic goes viral, people are fatphobic trolls, and then suddenly April finds herself out on a date with Marcus.

What the pair doesn’t know is that they already know each other. In fact, they’re best friends in fandom.
