Kingdom of the Wicked – Kerri Maniscalco
The latest novel from the author of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Kingdom of the Wicked is a story of sisterhood and vengeance…and a prince of Hell itself.
Part YA historical fantasy and part murder mystery, the book follows the story of Emilia and her sister Vittoria, a pair of witches who secretly live among humans. But when bold, irreverent Vittoria is murdered and her body is desecrated by an unknown assailant, her sister is willing to do anything to find her killer.
Her investigation leads her to more dead witches – and an uneasy partnership with Wrath, one of the Wicked, the seven princes of Hell that are brothers to the devil himself. As is par for the course in stories like this, an attraction grows between the two, but the direction of that story is only one of the many unexpected twists and turns along the way here.
The official synopsis describes the story in a bit more detail.
"Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe – witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family’s renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin…desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden. Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…"
Kingdom of the Wicked is available on October 27.
