What to Watch on Netflix: Say I Do and Warrior Nun
By Sabrina Reed
Warrior Nun
Dubbed the supernatural series Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans deserve–by our very own Shaun Stacy—Warrior Nun follows Ava, a young woman who has always dreamed of being dead. For her, death will grant her normalcy, a chance to see herself as something other than the freak she believes she is. Of course, nothing ever works out how it’s supposed to and death grants her divine powers instead.
Now marked with a halo embedded in her spine, Ava must learn how to wield her gifts to fight against evil. The thing is, she’s an atheist who has been recruited to train alongside an order who believe in divinity and the threat of Hell rising and Heaven falling in its wake.
The young nuns of the Order of the Cruciform Sword are the real deal. Beatrice, Mary, Lilith, and Camila have been training for this fight that Ava has fallen into for a long time. Their piety mixed with Ava’s blasphemy is sure to be an interesting dynamic.
What are a group of devout nuns to do when the woman meant to save the world is a non-believer who knows nothing of the fight ahead of them? Train her, obviously, and pray for a miracle. Godspeed, they’re going to need it.
Warrior Nun is based on the comics series Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn.
Warrior Nun is available to stream on Netflix now.
