Aurora Burning by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff are back this month with their latest collaborative work: Aurora Burning. The second installment in The Aurora CycleAurora Burning will continue the story of the gang of misfits introduced in Aurora Rising — just with slightly higher stakes than last time.

As the group attempts to prevent an “ancient evil” from arising in the galaxy, they’re also tasked with solving a number of smaller issues. There’s a clan of gremps trying to “rearrange their faces,” GIA agents looking to capture Auri, and Kal’s long-lost sister (who kind of has an army at her disposal). The group is running from just about everyone in this installment, but the synopsis suggests they’ll need to stop running and stand their ground for the greater good of the galaxy:

"“When they learn the Hadfield has been found, it’s time to come out of hiding. Two centuries ago, the colony ship vanished, leaving Auri as its sole survivor. Now, its black box might be what saves them. But time is short, and if Auri can’t learn to master her powers as a Trigger, the squad and all their admirers are going to be deader than the Great Ultrasaur of Abraaxis IV.”"

With so much at stake, Aurora Burning promises to be an epic sequel with plenty of action and suspense to keep readers flipping through its pages. Kaufman and Kristoff haven’t disappointed us before, so we’re confident this installment will be a worthy next step in the series.

Aurora Burning is available in print, ebook, and audiobook formats beginning May 5.
