10 December book releases to help SFF fans end the year right
The Pretenders by Rebecca Hanover
December appears to be a popular month for finishing series, and Rebecca Hanover’s The Similars duology is no exception. The second installment, The Pretenders, is heading our way on December 10 — and it’s going to present Emma with some major questions she’ll need to answer, both about herself and the Similars.
And finding herself is going to be difficult for Emma after the twisted events that took place during her junior year at Darkwood. She can barely accept what happened, and she can’t even tell anyone what she’s going through. On top of that, Levi is stranded on an island with the disturbing person who created him.
As though Emma’s internal struggles aren’t enough to contend with, The Pretenders also raises the stakes when it comes to those she cares about. The summary suggests she’ll need to stop the creator of the Similars from going through with a sinister scheme:
"“But when more of the Similars’ creator’s plot is revealed, Emma and her friends will have to try to stop him from putting a plan into motion that could destroy everyone she loves.”"
For those looking for an unsettling concept, plenty of twists, and a dash of romance, The Pretenders is a great addition to your December TBR. And readers who hurry may even have time to revisit the first book before picking up this one!
