10 December book releases to help SFF fans end the year right
Runemaker by Alex R. Kahler
Alex R. Kahler is concluding The Runebinder Chronicles this month, with the third book — Runemaker — coming out on December 3. The finale promises to take Aidan and Tenn’s story to an even darker place before it releases its grip on them. And frankly, that’s exactly the sort of thing we’re here for.
For one, Tenn’s hopes of teaming up with Aidan to defeat the undead seem like they might be crushed early on in the novel. Not only does the synopsis suggest that Aidan will be struggling with self-destructive tendencies, but it also hints at the fact that he may not be “fighting for the living” anymore. That doesn’t bode well for the end goal of defeating the Dark Lady and the dead.
And with Aidan in this condition, Tenn’s going to have some difficult decisions of his own to make. The summary for Runemaker reads:
"“And while the world rallies for its final battle against the Dark Lady’s minions, Tenn finds himself torn between saving the boy who’s slipping away and fulfilling a prophecy he can’t understand—one that will require him to harness the most powerful magic the world has ever seen: the Sphere of Maya.”"
It sounds like the weight of the world is going to be on the boys’ shoulders in this final installment, and fans are going to want to be present for the whole emotional ride. After all, who doesn’t love to spend the winter months indoors, worrying about their favorite characters?
