18. Love Actually

For some people, Love Actually can be a hard movie to follow considering it tells nine individual stories that are all interconnected. The one thing that truly connects all of the stories being told in this film is love (of course).

As a British romantic-comedy, Love Actually not only delivers some wonderful stories of love and romance, but also delivers charming one-liners and bits of humor that leave you wanting more. And while some of these stories are perhaps not as happy as others, there are deep emotions that are explored in every single tale.

Love Actually reminds us that many of our stories connect in some way, and around the holidays, we can miss the most obvious things or find new love and hope. The magic of the season is always there in some way and it is also what makes this film so beautiful.

While there are some people who might find this movie hard to follow or not the best in terms of being a romantic film, it really does deliver in so many ways. And if you give it a chance and really pay attention to each of the individual stories being told, it is amazing what you end up coming away with.

For me, Love Actually is the kind of anthology film that delivers so much more than just the usual cheer and gift giving of a Christmas movie. And that’s why even if it isn’t the holidays, I can turn this film on, pour a cup of hot chocolate, and dive right in.
