Titans’ “Aqualad” gave us a glimpse of Slade Wilson’s wrath last week. However, the antagonist’s titular episode this week will further outline how calculating Deathstroke is.

Some of us are still reeling from last week’s loss — even if it did happen years ago, technically. It’s been seven days, and we’re still wearing four-fingers toes shoes to mourn Garth. We’re going through it, but we’re about to throw ourselves through a different kind of emotional trial this week. “Deathstroke” takes us back to the main Titans timeline, and it gets tense for Jason Todd especially.

This week’s episode is a continuation of the cliffhanger in “Ghosts.” As such, the enemies of Titans past come back to torment the new heroes. At the expense of Jason Todd, this week’s episode heats up the conflict with a lot of interpersonal drama.

Courtesy of Warner Bros. Television division, this week’s synopsis reveals the team will face an internal dilemma. Our guess is that this conflict is just getting started this week:

"“With the team thrown into upheaval, Dick and the others vow to do everything in their power to save Jason Todd’s life. Gar’s guilt over Jason’s kidnapping complicates the mission to save their fellow Titan, while Rachel’s dark secret continues to gnaw at her. When Deathstroke demands they turn over Rose in exchange for Jason, the moral crisis threatens to tear the team apart from the inside.”"

Knowing the Titans, they’re not going to give Rose up for Jason. They’d rather risk their lives saving a team member, an arrogant hero like Jay. The proximity to the flashback episode, “Aqualad,” could produce some pushback within the team. After all, all old team members (minus Dick Grayson) weren’t thrilled that Rose Wilson is living at the tower. However, we’re more interested in Garfield’s personal turmoil.

Gar’s been through a lot. While he hasn’t had many opportunities to express his grief and work through his trauma, “Deathstroke” will give him some introspective scenes… just with Jason Todd at the route of his arc. This week will give us some tense side arcs for both Garfield and Rachel — providing a multi-faceted drama with a kidnapped Robin at the focal point.
