While he was a very young father, James Potter still didn’t get to spend much time with his son because Voldemort came and took it from him before he got the chance.
James Potter died for his family and sacrificed himself in the hopes that Lily and Harry would get away. As fans of the Harry Potter series, we know what happens. Harry is the only survivor and Lily and James left their love with Harry, which protected him from Voldemort.
So, what would have happened if James Potter got to stay with Harry? To be honest, he probably would have been a great father and been someone that Harry could look up to. He learned his mistakes and learned how to grow from Lily, started to see his problems and see what he was like when he was back in school and he started to look into himself and what he needed to change.
With that, he wouldn’t be a bad father for Harry because he wouldn’t let Harry become the kind of man that he was when he was in school. James Potter would shower his son in love and make sure he had everything he wanted and needed.
It’s sad because we know what happened to Harry and who Harry had to go with because of Voldemort but giving James Potter his due is the least we can do. When he needed to step up as a father and a husband, he did.
