20 DCEU villains ranked by sort of scary to absolutely sinister
14. Captain Boomerang
When it came to different villainous members of the Suicide Squad, it seems as if Captain Boomerang was actually a true villain in every sense of the word. There was no way to really redeem this character and that is certainly okay.
As far as well written villains go, Boomerang is lacking. He is more like comedic relief at times than a true bad guy we want to see win or lose. And even when he is given moments to show sympathy he seems to miss the mark. Plus, the fact that he has no problem laughing when someone dies reminds us all that he is a true psychopath with a deranged personality.
The real reason that Captain Boomerang comes in above some of the other members of the team is the fact that they were able to showcase his smarts and ability to manipulate people to do something he wants. Even though he didn’t really get the chance to shine, the fact that he was able to eliminate one of his teammates through manipulation (RIP Slipknot) gave us a tease of what kind of villain he could be if given half a chance to shine.
As one of many villains in a movie filled with them, Captain Boomerang sometimes gets lost behind larger personalities and characters that were just better developed. And sadly, that was bound to happen in a film about so many different characters. However, if he pops back up in the Suicide Squad sequel, maybe they will give him more of a chance to shine and further develop his character.
