Ready for vacation? On this week’s Project Runway episode, the designers must find some common ground in this spirited team challenge.
Project Runway fans need a good Caipirinha to pair with this week’s episode. After a questionable elimination last week, the designers are combined into teams. Will the sly comments have these designers wishing for a long vacation from the workroom?
According to Bravo, this week’s episode, “Blame It On Rio” synopsis states:
"Stylist Marni Senofonte is back, this time to challenge the designers to work in her wheelhouse: celebrity styling. The designers divide into teams to create a mini-collection for their client, Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin, who is heading to Rio on vacation. Some designers collaborate while others compromise, as they race to create cohesive looks that tell a vacation fashion story. Only one designer will win, and another will go on a permanent vacation from the competition."
A couple of items are quite curious about this synopsis. First, the designers are paired into teams. Given that immunity is still in play, one team (the team with Jamal) will be at a disadvantage. As seen with Hester’s questionable elegant look last week, Jamal isn’t going home. He could send a half finished garment down the runway.
Unfortunately, that scenario puts his team at huge disadvantage. Since the challenge focuses on a collection, all the designers need to be on point. One weak link can put a team in the bottom.
Also, this challenge focuses on styling. This Project Runway season is more than just creating a beautiful gown. The designers have been pushed to create complete looks. From the picture perfect photograph to the head to toe ensemble, today’s successful designers are looking at a giving their “woman” a total look.
Going into this week’s episode, it will be curious to see how and which designers compromise on the team collection. In this scenario, compromise is key. Since there has only been one team challenge this season, this week’s episode could prove to be more combative. No one wants to lose her chance at the title over a compromised collection.
