Harry Potter and shipping: How the shipping wars have affected fans

If you were old enough to grow up with the series as it was happening, you remember the ship wars and what it did to fans of the series. So, how has it affected us now?

For those of us who shipped Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, it was a rough time. We thought we were going to be endgame and then the series gave us Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny and we had to go on with our lives knowing we didn’t get the relationship we wanted.

But we weren’t alone. That’s what was so great about growing up with this series. We all remember the ship wars and what that time on the internet was like to all of us. These characters meant the world to us and so did their ‘relationships’ that we dreamt of so when they didn’t become canon, we were too worried about what that meant for our fanfiction.

Rightfully so, though. Especially since J.K. Rowling has continued to come out and talk about what couple should have been together and what not. We have the right to constantly talk about what could have been because it keeps being brought up.

And, with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, we were confronted again with the possibility of these ships not working out. So, could there still be hope to us all? Maybe but until then, we can just remember the wars that raged on on the internet during that time.

Next. Re-reading the Harry Potter series can remind us all of the magic once again. dark

Harry Potter ends up loving Ginny Weasley and our shipper hearts had to come to terms with that but that doesn’t mean we loved it. Do you have your own favorite ship? Let us know what it was in the comments below!
