Harry Potter and Game of Thrones: A defense against all of our houses

We know that Harry Potter fans love talking about their houses but you know who else loves to defend their houses? Game of Thrones fans! And we’re not that different.

With Game of Thrones starting tonight, we’re all heading to Westeros but much like with Harry Potter, we’re all dedicated to our houses. So, what houses correlate to those in Game of Thrones? It isn’t as cut and dry as one may think.

For Gryffindor, we’re all more like the Starks. Brave to a fault, running into battle and being stubborn about things but still trying to do right and succeed as they can. For Slytherins, that goes with the Lannisters.

Then, it is pretty much a free for all. Maybe Targaryen would go to Ravenclaw but really, everyone on Game of Thrones is smart and dedicates their lives to learning about the past of Westeros. Still though, we can all connect to come house just like we do with Harry Potter.

It’s the joy of these kinds of shows. We can connect them to our own lives and it gives us a sense of agency within the story, understanding everything in our houses because we love them. So whether you be a Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff, you’re still part of the story. And the same goes for Thrones.

Are these set in stone connections? No, of course not. Everything is up for debate. But there are a lot of Gryffindors who are Starks and vice versa. So, we can all make our own decisions to see who we are.

Next. Neville Longbottom’s life wasn’t great, just like Harry Potter’s. dark
