Clint Barton / Hawkeye

Hawkeye’s death is unlikely to give us that oft-mentioned emotional assault Marvel so desperately desires. He wasn’t even in the last movie, so he’s clearly a priority for absolutely no one bar Black Widow and his hairdresser (who, unfortunately it seems, survived the Snapture only to give him a terrible mohawk).

His death would serve no purpose, and Marvel are going to use its precious three hours to deliberately make as many people cry as possible. Therefore, Hawkeye will make it by default.

Chance of survival: Hawk-high.

Mantis

Even if we don’t lose Drax, which seems relatively likely as we’ve already said, Mantis would remain an excellent addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy. She is arguably more helpful and doesn’t insult people to the high heavens in order to get a laugh (…is Drax the Ricky Gervais of Marvel? Oh no).

Also, frankly, she’s only just escaped the clutches of Kurt Russell and his bountiful hair. We haven’t seen nearly enough her yet.

Chance of survival: High

Happy Hogan

If we lose Tony in Endgame, which, even as we write this, seems ever more likely, Happy will be the extremely important and unkillable connection between Tony and Peter as we head into Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Peter has a terrible track record with father figures, only bested by Harry James Potter himself. We have to count on Marvel allowing him at least this one. Surely.

Chance of survival: We’re optimistic.

Scott Lang / Ant-Man

Ant-Man is the comic jewel in Marvel’s crown. We care enough about him to not find him tedious, but he can also provide seamless comic relief when the fates of the other characters are bumming us out.

Very few people can strike that balance, and with Paul Rudd’s incredible anti-aging abilities (and, oh yeah, acting), Marvel would do well to keep him on the roster.

Also we’ve just gotten him vaguely together with Hope, don’t tear that away now!

Chance of survival: We have high Hopes!

Cassie Lang

She’s a child, you monsters!

Chance of survival: High.

Hope van Dyne / The Wasp

Again, we’ve just gotten her vaguely together with Scott, don’t tear that away now!

She is also an extremely capable woman in her own right, who deserves to thrive not just because of her love interest, but because she’s fantastic.

But still, the point remains.

Chance of survival: We have higher Hopes!
