Daenerys Targaryen

Daenerys has come a long way since the first season of Game of Thrones, and she’s closer than she’s ever been to reclaiming the Seven Kingdoms. Although she’s one of the major contenders for the Iron Throne, she’s shifted her gaze north, to where the Night King’s army is on the march.

With the ability to ride Drogon into battle, Daenerys is one of the characters most likely to survive the Night King’s assault. Sadly, she’ll probably be forced to face Viserion before the series’ end, but she’ll also be an asset in the battle for Winterfell—and one of the only hopes of saving the Starks’ home from the army of the dead’s onslaught.

Unless the Night King succeeds in destroying Westeros, it seems likely that Daenerys will sit on the Iron Throne before the eighth and final season of the show comes to an end. The only thing that might jeopardize her claim to the throne is Jon’s true parentage, but there’s a high likelihood that Jon might not even want the Iron Throne. After all, before Sansa shows up at the Wall during season 6, Jon is ready to go south and “get warm.”

Daenerys has worked for seven seasons to become the queen of Westeros, so any finale that doesn’t end up with her on the throne just won’t be satisfying. She’s worked hard to return to her home and truly wants to make Westeros a better place for all of its inhabitants. That alone should earn her a crown, but the three dragons will definitely help. Cersei and Euron don’t stand a chance.
