Need some help deciding what to read this month? We run down 10 of the most anticipated YA book releases in April.

If it feels like there’s almost too much good stuff to read these days – particularly when it comes to young adult, or YA, fiction – that’s because there sort of is. (Actually there’s probably no sort of about it. There just is.)

The genre has positively exploded in popularity in recent years and it feels as though every other day a “critically acclaimed,” “highly anticipated” or “buzzy debut” novel is dropping. From high fantasy tales to contemporary stories to historical romances, there’s something for everyone – of any age – to enjoy here. The problem is, though, that there’s just no way that you’re ever going to manage to read everything that’s out there nowadays. Or even find the best ones among the overwhelming onslaught of new titles.

Well, that’s what we’re here for.

Staring this April, our Culturess team will be sifting through the raft of new YA releases each month, hoping to give you some helpful tips, general recommendations and useful reminders about YA novels hitting the shelves.

Yes, some of them will be that book that you keep hearing about everywhere and have totally already preordered weeks ago. But some of them won’t be, and might even lead you to something you’ve never heard of before.

Here are 10 of our picks for new releases you should make sure to check out this April.
