15 Captain Marvel fan theories you should know before watching
Super-Skrulls
Though heavily associated with the Fantastic Four in the comics, Captain Marvel could start the integration of Super-Skrulls into the MCU (and thus eventually Marvel’s First Family as well). The Skrull scene in the Captain Marvel trailers, where Carol is upside down, could be the event that ignites the Skrull Empire’s first Super-Skrull creation.
We probably won’t see Kl’rt (the first Super-Skrull) in Carol’s film, but we’re still hopeful we might get a glimpse of him in a mid-credit scene. After all, there’s a lot more to Skrull mythos beyond their prolonged rivalry with the Kree. The Kree-Skrull War is a good starting point to their lore, but we’re ready to see Skrulls in their powerful villainous form, and a Super-Skrull or two would be the prime nefarious warm-up before Galactus’ on-screen debut.
Beyond the general Super-Skrull theory, there are also theories that Jude Law’s character might not legitimately be Yon-Rogg or Mar-Vell. Instead, he might be a Super-Skrull. While Carol has the abilities to detect a regular Skrull imposter, we’ve yet to see if that ability extends to Super-Skrulls, so Law’s potential Super-Skrull status could still be a possibility. Plus, it would explain the misdirection surrounding his character.
Whether or not Super-Skrulls will visibly be present or even referenced in Carol’s upcoming film, Skrulls of any kind reign over the Captain Marvel fan theories.
