Ghost – Molly and Sam

Ghost is another movie that’s considered one of the best romances in history. Starring Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg, Ghost tells the story of Molly, whose lover was murdered (Swayze) and finds help from a psychic (Goldberg). Obviously the film’s most famous and commonly parodied scene is the one with the pottery wheel, with the ghost of Sam sitting behind Molly in an oddly sexy display of affection, but it’s the final kiss between Molly and Sam that has made our list!

To communicate with each other, psychic Oda Mae Brown has to convey messages from Sam to Molly. She’s never experienced talking to spirits before, but something is different with Sam, and she’s the only person who could talk to and see him. Sam says he wishes he could just kiss her once more, so Oda Mae has an idea. She tells Sam he can use her body to interact with Molly (but to act fast because she might change her mind).

The spirit of Sam sits down right into Oda Mae, so all Molly has to do is close her eyes and imagine it’s him while the pair caress each other, dance, and of course, embrace once more. It’s kind of weird when you think about the fact that this is actually happening — physically at least — between Molly and Oda Mae, but when you put those thoughts aside, you just have to focus on the romantic gesture. They get abruptly pulled out of the moment, but before that happens, they get to enjoy each other’s presence. Nobody can take that away from them.
