“I Hate This Part” – The Pussycat Dolls

This song was released in 2008, but continued to rise up the charts and get airplay throughout 2009, so we just couldn’t resist! The Pussycat Dolls released their sophomore album Doll Domination in September 2008, and it definitely lived up to the hype that they built up with their debut. The girl group was sexy and they had all the moves and hit after hit, but all good things must come to an end!

“I Hate This Part” was a bit of a departure from the group’s very sexy image. They were usually dancing around half-naked to their pop singles like “Don’t Cha” and “Buttons,” but this one was more of an R&B-pop power ballad, with Nicole Scherzinger’s vocals shining more than ever. Of course, Scherzinger’s vocals were the only ones really in the song, because the other Dolls had basically become glorified backup dancers by that point.

PCD released several more singles after this one — including “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny),” an English remix of the Oscar-winning song from Slumdog Millionaire. It caused a bit of a stir because the song was released by A. R. Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls… featuring Nicole Scherzinger. Nobody was surprised that Scherzinger got all the credit, but before long, the girl group had dissolved so that Scherzinger could go solo.

Rumors have been swirling for years about the group getting back together, but nothing concrete has come forward yet. That’s the reunion we would die to see.
