Get the Look: Closet London shirt dress

One look that never seems to get enough credit for being sophisticated and chic is the button-front shirt dress. These dresses are always quite stylish and when done right, can make a statement.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a vibrant blue Veronica Beard blue button-front shirt dress during a visit to Tonga, and it was the simple elegance of the look that really drew us in. And while there are plenty of color options when it comes to dresses like this, we decided to stick with a dress in a shade of blue that made us think of Markle’s, even as it is much more budget friendly.

While it is possible to snag the same dress that the duchess wore from Veronica Beard, at least in black, we went with a less expensive choice from Closet London.

The Closet London take on the shirt dress comes with shorter sleeves than the dress the duchess wore, although she did have hers rolled up to the elbow. These sleeves already hit at the elbow, which is definitely a mimic of the original look. This dress also features a tie at the waist, which works perfectly, as Markle’s dress also had a waist tie.

Considering the duchess chose a simple look with very little adornments, we would likely do the same depending on where we chose to wear this dress. And while she chose to wear light blue strappy heels with her shirt dress, we think a nice pair of navy pumps or even black heels would be a nice addition to this overall look.
