Queer Eye

The what: While this is technically a reboot of the old Queer Eye For The Straight Guy that aired on cable in the early aughts, this Netflix version has carved out its own place in the cultural canon. It remains faithful to the original premise, with five gay men offering makeovers to folks who need a little help in all areas of their lives. They offer advice on style, hair, culture, nutritional and emotional wellness, and they do it with love and kindness, always.

The feels: They’re just so freaking nice. They arrive at the person’s home and just love this person through the whole experience. There are abundant hugs and encouraging words, and most episodes feature a moment in which the person receiving the makeover has some breakthrough about their own self-worth. Whatever the opposite of heartbreaking is, this show is that.

The deets: Both seasons are available on Netflix now. Season 1 focuses on the Atlanta and Georgia areas, while season 2 takes the fab five to Kansas City.  The fab five are Antoni Perowski, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Bobby Berk.
