Melisandre will bring Viserion back from the dead

Melisandre has never been a fan favorite on Game of Thrones, as her religious views have always been a bit questionable to say the least. She births a shadow to kill Renly, attempts to sacrifice Gendry, and truly makes herself a despised character when she convinces Stannis to murder his own daughter in order to win the battle against House Bolton.

However, Melisandre does have one thing going for her: She does manage to bring Jon Snow back from the dead during the show’s sixth season, using her strange powers to undo the Night’s Watch’s deadly betrayal of their Lord Commander. And some fans believe she might be able to replicate this magic, using it to increase Westeros’ odds against the White Walker army.

Specifically, several fans have suggested that Melisandre might be able to bring Viserion back from the dead. After the dragon takes a deadly dive beneath the ice in season 7, he is resurrected by the Night King and turned into an undead dragon. The transformation seems to have rendered him more deadly than ever, as he manages to take down the Wall within seconds of arriving there. He could probably do much worse if he ever reaches Winterfell.

But as redditor Cornholio_the_white’s mother points out, Melisandre might be able to bring Viserion back because “they’re keeping her around for something.” It’s a fair point, especially when you consider that there hasn’t been much explanation or reasoning behind Jon’s resurrection. Maybe his return from the dead was intended to herald a much bigger plot point.

Speaking of which…
