Trish kills Alisa –Jessica Jones
What happened: Jessica Jones season 2 took a little longer to get to the good stuff, but the last half of the season really delivered. It all culminates in an emotional season 2 finale in which Trish is forced to kill Jessica’s mother.
Why it’s important: If you want to contain our reasons to the Netflix-only universe, thus far, it’s important because it marks an emotional shift in the power dynamic of the two friends and foster sisters. Jessica, as the resident superhero, is usually the one saving folks with her super strength and invincibility. Trish is often her only source of emotional support, so the act of killing her mother exhibits a change in the dynamic. Of course, Trish did to protect Jessica from having to do it, because it would inevitably send Jessica into a spiral, but there are bound to be unresolved feelings between the two.
If you want to take it a little wider into the Marvel universe, we could be witnessing the birth of a new superhero on the series. Trish Walker is based on the character Patsy Walker, and she is the alter-ego of Hellcat. Both Trish and Hellcat rely on their martial arts skills, and like Hellcat, Trish has developed some super-reflexes of her own. We’ll just have to wait for season 3 to see how they play it out.
How to watch it: Jessica Jones is a Netflix original, so of course both seasons are available all the time. To watch Trish do away with Jessica’s maybe-evil mother, you can go to the last episode of season 2.
