Harry Potter’s Wand Desk Lamp ($99.99)

If you’re not a fan of the Deathly Hallows (and we get it, those things are dangerous when in the wrong hands), you can use this lamp from ThinkGeek to light your living space instead. Its design is a clever one, with “Lumos” written on the lampshade—a clever use of the lighting spell Harry and his friends use so often.

“Lumos” certainly is used often over the course of the Harry Potter books, though one of the more memorable (and comical) uses of the spell occurs when Harry attempts to do his homework at night, while the Dursleys are all asleep. It’s probably the only instance you’ll find a teenage protagonist who desperately wants to do his homework, so much so that he’ll stay up all night and read by wandlight.

And the addition of Harry’s wand to this lamp makes it even cooler looking, especially since it gives off the vibe that the wand is creating the light—not the fact that’s it’s plugged into an outlet (though that fact would certainly excite Arthur Weasley). It’s the closest fans will get to magic in the muggle world, so we might as well enjoy it

Though this lamp is listed as a “desk lamp,” it’s size makes it easy to keep on any flat surface—from tables to dressers, and everything in between. Its design is versatile enough that it would look good in any type of room, meaning there’s really no excuse not to buy it.
