Harry Potter and the holidays: Are they still as sad for him now?

facebooktwitterreddit

We saw in the Harry Potter series that Christmas is a hard time for Harry. Do you think it is still that way or did having his own children help him cope?

Harry Potter had a rough go of the holidays from the start. Not that he didn’t finally find people to share the season with but, with the Dursleys, it was all about Dudley. So Harry had to cope and learn what to do to stay out of the way. So when Molly Weasley made him a sweater for the first time, it was like he was a part of a family.

Flashforward to now, when Harry has his own kids and, probably, his own traditions: Does that mean that Harry James Potter can actually enjoy Christmas without relating it back to the ones he missed in Godric’s Hollow? In one of the most tender moments of the entire series, Harry and Hermione are standing at his parents grave, looking at what is left of James and Lily and, in that moment, Hermione realizes that it is Christmas.

So the only real Christmas that Harry remembers with his parents is one where they were already dead. He sees The people who still praise his mom and dad but he never got the chance to and now that he has his own family, there is a sense of hope that Harry made new memories with his own children. Focused on a happier holiday for them so that he can finally enjoy Christmas too.
