Fantastic Beasts spoilers: The secret life of Credence Barebone
There were a lot of rumors and spoilers to come out of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald but one of the most shocking was the news of Credence Barebone.
Credence Barebone is a character we’ve started to learn more and more about but the latest twist in his story has a lot of fans confused. So all this time, Credence wasn’t just an obscurus that Grindelwald wanted to use.
No, he was much more. He was a Dumbledore. Which, okay? So he is suddenly a lost Dumbledore that just so happened to be on the boat that Leta Lestrange was on that led to the death of her little brother? How does all of that check out that easily? It’d make sense if there was any indication in previous works that there was another Dumbledore.
But we’ve heard nothing of this ‘Dumbledore’ in the Harry Potter series. Sure, you can say that we have three movies still and maybe that Albus hides the truth even more from Harry but you think Aberforth is going to lie about it? The real theory should be that Grindelwald is lying.
There is no way that Credence is a Dumbledore and, if he is, does he just not accept that he is one? Like does he just say he’s still Credence Barebone and peace out and never tell Albus? There are just too many loose ends in the series that we know and love so for this to work in any way, we’d have to have some indication that Dumbledore knew that he had more than one brother.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is in theaters now. See where Newt, Tina, Queenie, Jacob and the rest of the crew go next on their journey.
