Revolutionary War America
Despite the fact that the Revolutionary War marks an important moment in history – and in the relationship between Great Britain and the United States – Doctor Who has never really done an episode based in or around this time period. That kind of makes sense in a way, given that this is a British show and this is a distinctly American moment in history. (Plus, no one really likes to be reminded of that time they got their butt kicked by a colony they previously controlled, one supposes.)
Historical person our Doctor could meet: What would a Doctor Who take on Benedict Arnold look like?
Also, there’s literally no way that the writers would be able to avoid a cameo by Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr or including at least some sort of hidden Easter egg and/or throwaway reference to Hamilton the musical. The Venn diagrams between these two fandoms are just too connected, and it would be too much fun. Plus, we’ve already learned that the Doctor is a fan of the show! (Not throwing away my shot: Get Lin-Manuel Miranda to guest star!)
Potential adventures: What if aliens or some sort of time travel shenanigans delayed George Washington crossing the Delaware or interfered with the Battle of Yorktown? Would America’s founding fathers be willing to listen to a woman? And how would the presence of Yaz and Ryan be handled in this time period? There’s a lot of interesting directions that all could go.
