“Santa Baby” – Madonna

From a sad Christmas to a sexy one, no holiday playlist would be complete without a little classic known as “Santa Baby.” The song was originally released in 1953 and performed by the late Eartha Kitt, but Madonna took a stab at the song back in 1987 for the compilation album A Very Special Christmas, which benefited the Special Olympics. The album also featured acts like Bon Jovi, U2, Sting, and Whitney Houston.

For Madonna’s “Santa Baby,” she had a little fun with it. Instead of going sexy vixen like Kitt, she sings it almost like Betty Boop, with a New York accent and a more cartoonish voice. It sounds unlike anything Madonna has ever done before, but that’s what makes it a classic! The Material Girl sings about her grown-up Christmas list for Santa, which includes a diamond ring, a Convertible, and a yacht, because she has been an angel all year! Relatable, right?

Madonna hasn’t done any other Christmas songs in her expansive career, but that doesn’t really shock me. Thankfully, we have at least one song of hers that we can add to our playlist, because with other pop queens like Britney, Gaga, and Christina, we couldn’t possibly be missing the Queen herself!
